Each justice system agency in the District of Columbia conducts research and/or analysis to identify trends with respect to the agency, evaluate agency programs and efforts, and inform the agency’s business practices. The Statistical Analysis Center (SAC), a unit within the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council (CJCC), also conducts criminal and juvenile justice research and analysis at the request of the Mayor, the Council for the District of Columbia, and the CJCC member agencies. The SAC also conducts research and analysis to help inform the work of the various CJCC committees, which focus on combating violent crime, juvenile justice, adult reentry, and substance abuse and mental health services, among other things.
